Johanny Bert
Director, actors manipulator and singer of HEN, he also signs for this project the scenography and the light of the show in close collaboration with his team.
It is as his meetings and creations progress that he builds a singular language, mainly seeking to confront the actor, the material, the puppet form. Each creation is born of an intimate necessity, an artistic desire and it is in team that he builds a device which reinvents itself with each show according to the dramaturgy, the subject creating always new forms. Johanny Bert does not wish to restrict his work as a creator to a single relationship with the public and it is in this multiple and assumed identity that he seeks, sometimes aiming these shows at young audiences and sometimes not.
His creations often arise from writing orders or texts from contemporary authors, notably Marion Aubert for Les Orphelines - CDN de Vire (2010), Stéphane Jaubertie for De Passage (2014) in co-production with Les Tréteaux de France, Magali Mougel She not princess / He not hero (2016) in coproduction with the Théâtre Sartrouville Yvelines CDN, then Frissons in 2020, Waste by Guillaume Poix at the Théâtre Poche in Geneva (2016), Catherine Verlaguet, Gwendoline Soublin, Arnaud Cathrine, Thomas Gornet for the creation of An epic (2020) but also for other creations with Emmanuel Darley, Aude Denis, Philippe Dorin, Fabrice Melquiot, Sabine Revillet, Pauline Sales...
Johanny Bert enjoys working in collaboration with other artists such as Yan Raballand for Krafff (2007), The Little Bath (2016) or for collaborations with other companies.
Johanny Bert is engaged in territorial work. He was in residence at the Théâtre du Puy-en-Velay then a contracted stage from 2006/2008 then at the Polaris in Corbas from 2009/2011 then an associate artist at La Comédie de Clermont-Ferrand from 2016/2018. In particular, he created Devastate Me (2017) with Emmanuelle Laborit in co-production with IVT and a performance with Norah Krief and Cécile Vitrant for the Effervescence festival 2017 based on the text by Marc-Emmanuel Soriano. La Comédie entrusts him with carte blanche during the construction of the future Comédie during the two years of work: a place of its own.
From September 2018, Johanny Bert is a companion artist at the Bateau Feu, national scene of Dunkirk. He develops research time there and creates in 2019 HEN - insolent cabaret and prepares the project an epic there.
Today he pursues and develops creations for performing arts and enriches his work with video art projects or installations. His company, the Romette theater is located in Clermont-Ferrand. He received a commission from the SACD and the Festival d'Avignon in the program Long live the subject in July 2020. He is preparing a project for teenagers The process, a text by Catherine Verlaguet and a new puppet creation around new sexual and romantic identities The (new) Round.
